I am a lifelong resident of Ripon. I attended Ripona and Ripon Elementary Schools and graduated from Ripon High School in 1989. In high school, I fell in love with science and decided I wanted to become a Biology teacher, thanks to my own high school science teacher and mentor, Gary Meyers. After attending UC Davis for one year, I transferred to CSU Stanislaus where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Botany. After graduation, I entered the Credential Program and became credentialed to teach Life Science and Introductory Science.
I began my teaching career by substitute teaching and teaching summer school for Ripon Unified and was hired to teach middle school science for Jefferson School District in Tracy in 1995. I remained at Jefferson until the birth of our older daughter in 2001. She was joined by our second daughter two years later. When both girls were in school, I returned to Ripon Unified as a substitute teacher in 2008. In August of 2015, I joined the Science Department at Ripon High and am thrilled to be a part of the World's Greatest High School!
In July 2023, my husband (who is also a Ripon High alumnus) and I celebrated our 27th anniversary. Our older daughter graduated from Ripon High in 2019, and our younger daughter graduated from Ripon High in 2021. In my free time, I like to hang out with my family, watch the Ripon High athletic teams, make crazy SuperFan videos with my esteemed colleague, Mr. Wright, travel to the Netherlands to visit my family, surf the web, and read. I also love music and was a member of Ripon's Sweet Harmony Women's chorus for 16 years and tracked currency on www.wheresgeorge.com for many years, but I had to give those two hobbies up because SuperFan planning was taking up too much of my time!
